Essays
Save student-written essays as TEXT requirements with scholarships.submitApplicationRequirementV2, then submit the application with scholarships.applyV2. You don't need Owlflow's AI operations to support essay scholarships.
The Apply page documents the TEXT payload. If you use your own essay editor or AI writing tool, read the prompt and length limits from RequirementText on scholarships.byId:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
title | Short label for the requirement. |
description | Full essay prompt from the scholarship provider. |
essayTopics { id topic } | Topic choices when the scholarship offers more than one prompt. |
minWords, maxWords | Word count limits (null when not set). |
minCharacters, maxCharacters | Character count limits (null when not set). |
If your application flow does not support essays, exclude scholarships with TEXT requirements from the list:
graphql
scholarships {
list(
filters: {
isEligible: true
isActive: true
requirementTypes: { mode: EXCLUDE, types: [TEXT] }
}
) {
nodes { id title }
}
}AI draft
Add the operations below only if your product uses Owlflow to generate AI-assisted drafts. Call the personalization question and answer operations, then call scholarships.generateEssay. After the student reviews the draft, save the edited text with scholarships.submitApplicationRequirementV2.
| Call | When |
|---|---|
scholarships.generatePersonalizedQuestions | The student starts personalizing an essay. |
scholarships.generateNextPersonalizationQuestion | After each answer. |
scholarships.upsertEssayPersonalizationAnswer | Store the answer. |
scholarships.generateEssay | Draft the essay. |
scholarships.generateEssayDiff | Show what the student changed. |
Read personalizationQuestions and personalizationAnswers from the text requirement to resume an unfinished drafting session.
